The difference that it makes is just astounding. I take a lot of family pictures since having had a baby. Buying this flash is the best purchase that I ever made for my photography.
The distance is impressive. You must carry an extra set of AA alkaline batteries with you at all times. It is far superior to the camera's built in flash.
It synchronizes with all my lenses. But it is still worth the money. The only negative is that it eats batteries.
The Nikon SB-600 will change your life. It is simple to operate and the learning curve is minimal. It will add a whole new dimension to your photography.
I can take pictures in the dark almost as fast as I can push the shutter button. The camera flash was never adequate, but the SB-600 will light up anything in a large room.
when i do this i have to take the flash off and either use a cord or go wireless and hold it in my hand or set it up with the included stand on the ground.Other than that, the flash is really great. this is only a problem when i want to bounce the flash off of the ceiling and shoot in landscape. i would buy it again if i needed to. this is a great flash that you can use wirelessly if your camera supports it (most nikons now a days can do it). I only have one complaint, and that is that the flash head can only be moved up and down, and not left and right.
The SB600 has so far been a flawless onboard close-to-medium range flash. I don't regret it. As I learn how to use the features in the camera, the importance of the quality of the glass and camera compatibility becomes apparent. A bit of a pain to set up, but stick to it and you get the onboard D90 flash acting as both a flash and a wireless commander for the D600. That plus the fully integrated wireless-synced-remote feature with the D90 make it a bargain for the price. I haveSBhad the D90 since February and I love it. I just got around to setting this up and I am amazed at how well the D90 and SB600 work together. After buying an entry kit from Costco in December, I returned it and bought a body only and added higher quality Nikon lenses, all from Amazon.
This flash greatly improved the performance of my Nikon D60.The ability to bounce the flash really make a difference.GREAT PRODUCT.
